Welcome Home, Amerasia!  We are ready to SET SAIL! 

As we embark on a new journey with new teachers and new students, the entire Amerasia Community is invited to embrace this year"s theme and SET SAIL on an exciting and enriching educational journey.  The theme comes with several metaphors we can apply to our lives to help our growth.   

欢迎回家，回到美亚校园！让我们一起扬帆起航！

当我们与新师生一起，踏上新航程之际，我衷心的邀请美亚社区在充满激情和充实的教育旅程中拥抱今年的主题并起航。该主题蕴含的寓意适用于生活各方面，同时可以帮助我们成长。 

THEME 1: “You are the captain of your ship.” 

主题1：“你是自己人生之船的船长” 

Being captain of your own ship is about developing agency.  Agency means having the power to take actions that shape your own life. It"s like being the boss of your own story. Agency is about taking responsibility for your choices and understanding that they can have a profound positive impact on your life, on others, and the world.    

成为自己的船长就是发展主体意识。主体意识意味着有能力采取行动来塑造自己的生活，撰写自己的故事。主体意识是指做出各种决定，帮助你实现目标；也是指对你的选择负责，并理解这些选择将对你的生活、他人和世界产生深刻而积极影响。 

THEME 2: “You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”  

主题2：“有当你有勇气放弃岸边的风景时，你才能发现另一片广阔的海洋。” 

Courage means taking yourself out of your comfort zone and exploring new territory and trying new experiences—new classes, new clubs, new activities, even new friendships. Try everything!

勇气意味着让自己走出舒适区，探索新的领域，尝试新的体验——新的课程、新的俱乐部、新的活动，甚至新的友谊。尝试一切！ 

THEME 3: “The past does not equal the future.” 

主题3：“过去不等于未来” 

Embracing this philosophy leads to a growth mindset. Even if you don’t feel strong in certain areas like math, or language or PE, your potential for growth is not limited by your previous experience or past academic records. Create the future you desire by setting goals and taking action. Growth mindset is about always trying your best!  It’s about making changes to daily habits that help improve your grades, or your diet or exercise, or relationships, or sense of appreciation for life. You can improve just about anything you set your mind to!   

拥抱这种哲学将引导我们发展成长型思维。即使在数学、语言或体育等方面感觉薄弱，你的成长潜力不会受到过去的经验或学术成绩的限制。通过设定目标并采取行动，你可以创造出你期望的未来。成长心态始终鼓励我们尽力而为！成长包括改变日常习惯以提高成绩、改善饮食和运动习惯、改善人际关系以及培养对生活的感激之情。你可以改变任何你下定决心改变的事！ 

THEME 4: “You can’t control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.” 

主题4：“如果你不能改变风向，你至少可以调整船帆。”

Not everything in life is in our control. However, if you can"t control or change something, you still have the power to adapt and find ways to make the best of the situation without letting it bring you down. Find the silver lining in any situation. Find a life lesson to learn through your disappointment. Stay positive and flexible!  “Adjusting your sails” will help you develop resilience. 

生活中并非一切皆可掌控。然而，即使你不能控制或改变某些事情，你仍然有能力去调整，并找到方法在不被困扰的情况下取得最好的结果。在任何情况下都要寻找积极的一面，从失望中汲取生活的教训。保持积极和灵活！"调整你的船帆"将帮助你培养坚韧的品质。  

THEME 5:  Ride the waves with grace and courtesy. 

主题5：优雅地乘风破浪 

There will be days when you are frustrated, exhausted, or down; but practicing grace and courtesy means that even when we are not feeling at our best, we act with kindness, patience, and understanding toward others. Grace and courtesy create a space where people around you feel safe. Grace and courtesy build trust and foster a collaborative work atmosphere for all. Grace and courtesy also nourish our own strength and resilience. Be gentle. Be kind. Always. To everyone. Help each other. And together we will stand as great role models and beacons of light for our community and for the world.  

你一定会有感到沮丧、疲惫或失意的日子。但保持优雅和礼貌意味着，即使我们心情低落，也要以善良、耐心、同理心对待他人。优雅和礼貌是关于善良和同情，它会创造一个让你周围的人感到安全的空间。优雅和礼貌能建立信任，并营造积极和协作的氛围。优雅和礼貌也滋养我们的力量和韧性。永远温柔善良地对待每一个人。互相帮助，我们将共同成为社区和世界的榜样，成为为他人照亮方向的灯塔。 

THEME 6:  Practice gratitude!  Enjoy the journey and appreciate the view.  

主题6：心怀感恩！享受旅程，欣赏美景。

And finally, it is important to take time out of your day to pause and appreciate the immense beauty that surrounds you. You have experienced and passionate Amerasia teachers who love and accept you unconditionally. You have school leaders who are patient and kind and available when you need someone to talk to. You have amazing, vibrant classmates who are intelligent, humorous, creative, and talented in a multitude of areas. You have loving families who are willing to do everything in their power to give you the best possible life. And you have the IB Program, the most highly regarded international college-prep program in the world. It is a program that can open all the doors to your future at university and beyond.  Indeed, we are blessed and fortunate to be part of this Amerasia community, so we want you to enjoy this journey and appreciate your blessings, and the gorgeous view that surrounds you.  We love you and we are here for you.   

最后，重要的是要从每一天中抽出时间来停下来，深呼吸，欣赏你周围的美景。陪伴着你的是30名富有经验、热情，爱你们、无条件接纳你的美亚老师；充满耐心、爱心的学校领导会在你处于至暗时刻，需要有人倾诉时，随时聆听；你的周围有一群聪明、幽默、有创造力，且在不同领域 才华卓越的同学们；你还有充满爱的家人，他们愿意尽一切努力给你们最好的生活。你有机会享受IB教育，这一世界上最受推崇的国际大学预科课程。它将为你们的大学升学及未来的人生 打开所有的大门。事实上，我们很幸运能成为美亚社区的一员。所以，希望你能享受这段人生的旅程，欣赏周围美好的风景。我们爱你们，为了你们，我们在这里。
